Making Business-Led Social Innovation Possible: Center for Research and Development Beyond Borders

In today's society, where we are facing various global issues including global warming, businesses are forced to make major shifts in their management policies to solve these issues and bring about social change in addition to overcoming various barriers (beyond existing borders) and creating groundbreaking innovations.

In light of this situation, we are establishing IMAGINE THE FUTURE. Forum (ITF.F) as a facility where business firms can utilize the diverse resources of the Tsukuba area - including universities, government, and residents - to drive business-led joint research and development for exponential growth.

At ITF.F, companies contribute to setting up the business-to-academia-to-business(B2A2B) type of research centers. It provides a variety of services that help all parties to successfully collaborate and mutually benefit from joint research and development.

FACILITIES

We offer three research buildings and a shared open space, providing flexible research areas from 80 to 1,500 m2 on a single floor. A dedicated concierge is stationed in the open space, supporting access to university-owned experimental equipment. The event space can be used for research presentations, as well as networking and exhibitions for startups and companies.
It serves as a collaborative environment where new ideas emerge every day.

Location

Tsukuba Science City is home to a concentration of national research and educational institutions, as well as a wide range of support facilities. Approximately 20,000 researchers—including those from private companies—pursue cutting-edge research and development here. The project site, located at the very heart of the Tsukuba Center district, spans a generous 30,000 m2. It is also positioned within an area slated for redevelopment under the “Tsukuba Super Science City Initiative,” making it a location poised for significant future growth.
